Lacuna is a series of structures (at Spakwus Feather Park) that reference the cultural, industrial, and geological legacies of the land. They compose a constellation of materials, images, and relationships for the viewer to discover, assemble, and interpret. There is no one meaning here, rather a collection of material illustrations to a story, a fable, or a metaphor that the viewer is invited to complete. There are three keys to three locks. Can you find them?
These works are made from the stories of this site, from its physical heritage, and its very materials. It is an expression of the land, the diverse cast of characters who call it home and the unique - even mysterious - relationships between humans and our environment.
I hope the viewer takes with them a sense of mystery and possibility; a slightly greater awareness of the materials and forces that surround us in this extraordinary world that we often mistake for familiar.
